Presentation and Dialogue

What is the Presentation and Dialogue?

A one-time presentation on the status and history of racism and its impact on institutions, employees, clients and community. Following the presentation, a dialogue session is held as a way to respond to the information in the presentation. This short dialogue is a great preparation for groups and organizations to experience what the complete Dialogue On Race series will be like.

Presentation

The 45-minute presentation is a visual description of race that highlights segments of the six-session Series.

This presentation:

  • focuses on highlights of the status of race in U.S. society

  • looks back to its origin and following the through line to present day

  • explores impact on the industry for which the customized presentation has been prepared

  • asks questions and allows space for participants to reflect as they follow the information

The presentation is an opportunity to bring participants into a shared space to get an overview of race. It prepares participants for the unique small group dialogue format that follows.

Dialogue

Participants join others in a focused conversation, giving them the tools and language necessary for talking about race. The formatted and facilitated dialogue is set in groups of 15. This gives participants the space to process their thoughts and share what they saw, thought about, or experienced in the presentation.
